The Sri Lanka RHIYA (Reproductive Health Initiative for Youth in Asia) Project was a highly enriching social initiative for the agency. The task was to make sexual and reproductive health issues a talking point, without making a nation uncomfortable. The agency created ‘Subha’, a friendly, open-minded Sinhalese woman who became the voice of reason, and bridged the generation gap between adults and adolescents. In the absence of a credible media vehicle, the agency created its own, to deliver the message. Various interesting comic books, activity books and interactive games were created in Sinhalese language to bring ‘Subha’ alive, and help the youth to overcome inhibitions.
